Development Theater

Are you a MIDDLE or HIGH school student? Are you talented, gifted or just interested in Dramatic Arts, Digital Media and Graphic Design? You are invited to join the GVCN, titled: DRAMA FOR SOCIAL CHANGE. This concept is a fun-filled learning experience that offers children/youth a play-based training in the arts of the theater, digital media and graphic design.

Participants will be led through the creative process of screen play-making, digital video production and design art. In an interactive, participatory and practice-led environment, participants will learn the various elements of dramatic production as a tool for social change.

GVCN Educational Philosophy

Our program is based on academic research that shows that children have the deepest and most genuine learning experience when they are having fun. Development Theater is designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience that ensures children become confident, joyful and fully prepared future leaders. Our play-based curriculum empowers children to take control of the future through group dynamics.

Project Goal

The primary goal of this project is to engage our youth participants in the creative process of community social transformation.

Objectives

In a fun-filled dramatic atmosphere, inspire children as change agents to:

1. Mirror social ills in the community (bullying, obesity etc)
2. Inspire scenarios from collective creative thinking (Group Dynamics)
3. Collectively generate dramatic story
4. Collectively build stories through group
5. Develop situations around storyline
6. Build characters around situations
7. Create dialogue for characters
8. Produce problem-solving dramatic piece. (A tool for social change)
9. Engage in screen-play production life cycle (Pre-production, Production, Post-production)

These indoor and outdoor activities are designed to not only help participants live a healthy and productive life style, but also create the platform for others to live in safe and secure environment.

This exercise will help to discover and make manifest the actual “you in you” as a change agent.
